Summary

Background

The reason for submitting the application was a poor situation in healthcare caused by the shortage of specialized medical personnel, coupled with the aging population. One of the solutions we identified was the arrival of healthcare professionals from abroad, mainly from non-EU countries, where strict restrictions and barriers exist, which the project aims to eliminate. The need, therefore, is for a smooth and quick integration of foreign professionals into the healthcare system of the partner countries.

Objectives

The main goal of the project is to improve the delivery of healthcare, which we aim to achieve by enhancing the integration of foreign doctors, dentists, nurses, and pharmacists. To achieve this, we need to address the main weakness of integration, which is insufficient language proficiency as a requirement for healthcare professions. We are addressing this by improving outdated mechanisms for helping and preparing foreign doctors, dentists, nurses, and pharmacists for professional exams, as well as creating entirely new educational tools. In addition to education, the project also addresses legislative, administrative, and organizational barriers, which we thoroughly analyse and propose optimal solutions based on best practices from other EU countries.

Implementation

All activities were directed towards creating an entry gateway for foreign healthcare professionals as well as domestic healthcare providers. The core content was an educational platform containing specialized professional-language courses for healthcare workers, including teacher-led courses and eLearning, created by the project coordinator and partners. In addition to the educational content, the platform has an informational section covering a wide range of related issues. In parallel with the web platform, we also developed a mobile application with the same educational content, allowing online access to all educational materials from mobile devices 24/7. Given the specificity of such education, professional teaching methodologies were developed for both teachers and healthcare students. To address the legislative, organizational, and administrative barriers, which we thoroughly analysed and proposed optimal solutions based on best practices from other EU countries, a document titled "Legal Analysis and Proposal for Government Measures" was written, outlining the selection and preparation process for foreign doctors and healthcare professionals for successful examination and subsequent integration into society.

Results

The outputs of the project were: - A web platform for foreign healthcare personnel. - A mobile application (based on the web platform). - A methodological guide for teachers focused on online teaching of professional subjects, along with a guide/best practice for students. - A concept for preparing foreign doctors for successful examination and subsequent integration into society "Legal Analysis and Proposal for Government Measures".In addition to the aforementioned project outputs, we carried out the following activities: - We held 4 transnational partner meetings for the project. - We organized 3 multiplier events in the form of offline and online seminars aimed at presenting the project outputs to both professional and general audiences. - We conducted webinars and training events for the broader professional public. - Throughout the implementation, we ensured the publicity of the project.
