Summary

Latvia - Land Between East and West - Eyes of students opening III

The aim of this project was to present an unjustly neglected country that has just recently become part of Europe, but can be a source of inspiration and benefit for ten students of two graduates and the public. The project continued on the already started cooperation with the art and craft school in Riga, which is equipped with modern modern technologies. The practical part of the internship was divided between work in specialized companies and professional study at a school of friends focused on realization of assigned tasks. This 11-day internship for twelve participants will be divided into two groups. The assignment is a photo book and a film report with the same theme: Latvia - a country in between. The goal of both tasks is to capture the reality of contemporary Latvia and it is a successful journey to Europe with photographic and film resources. We want the results to focus on the contrast between the remnants of the socialist past, when the country was part of the Soviet Union, and a modern, innovative European country focused on new technologies and digitization today. The results were presented in the form of an exhibition or screening at film festivals. Online presentation on the official Facebook page of the project was a matter of course. The expected benefit of the internship for students was the ability to work independently under the supervision of teachers from a friendly school and through this expansion of professional skills and networking abroad. Students worked within a specific timeframe and were responsible for the results. Implementation of the assignment helped students prepare for their career after graduation. They were also have a tangible result from their activities at a foreign internship - a printed photo book and a film report on a given topic.

The project is a direct response to market and applicant needs. These needs were coordinated by the coordinators prior to formulating this request to ensure maximum efficiency and to verify the applicants' practical capabilities and help them to broaden their application on the labor market in visual creation and to widen their eyes.
